Our Bureau Mumbai, July 13 Baer Capital Partners on Thursday announced the incorporation of its Indian subsidiary, Baer Capital Partners (India) Private Ltd, and the opening of its Mumbai office in Nariman Point. The first Indian investment vehicle sponsored by Baer Capital Partners is the Beacon India Private Equity Fund. The fund will be a provider of growth capital to Indian companies, with a sector focus on consumer oriented businesses, infrastructure, and other manufacturing and services businesses. Baer Capital Partners was launched in 2006 to create an investment management, corporate finance, and wealth advisory business. The firm already has a presence in Dubai, London and Zurich. Creating an offshore alternative asset management platform for India is a major focus for the company. Baer Capital Partners will seek to sponsor various offshore investment vehicles targeting India, including private equity and hedge funds. Over a period of time, the firm will also build an investment banking and private banking business in India, subject to the relevant regulatory approvals.
