Our Bureau

Coimbatore, July 14 Automotive component manufacturer Pricol Ltd has sought police protection inside its factory premises near here to resume work on Monday.

According to a company spokesman, Pricol had declared a holiday today at its unit in the wake of clashes between permanent workers and casual labourers yesterday in which 28 people were injured.

The company has sent appeals to the Chief Minister, the Chief Secretary and the DGP, police and district administration seeking police protection.

The source said the company was ready to open the factory on Monday if police protection was given and if there was no violence.
