Global aerospace cos to take part in IAC-2007

Hyderabad, July 15 Global aerospace corporations, including Boeing, Ball Aerospace, Lockheed Martin, Arianespace, EADS, Mitsubishi, Intelsat, Honeywell etc. will be participating at the upcoming 58th. International Astronautical Congress (IAC-2007) in September.

In addition, top scientists from NASA, Mr Micheal Griffin, its Chief, Cosmonaut of Indian origin, Ms Sunita Williams, ESA (European Space Agency), Russia, China, France totaling about 1500 in the field are expected to participate and bring to the discussion the very latest excitement in space sciences.

Hyderabad is the venue for the week-long event, which will see a huge Indian presence, with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Defence establishments, public sector companies such as HAL, BEL, NAL and private companies such as Godrej, L&T, Avasarala, GIS, DTH and other professional taking part.

Being held in India only the second time 19 years after being hosted in Bangalore (1988), the IAC-2007 is being hosted by the ISRO and Astronautical Society of India in collaboration with global aerospace organisations such as IAF, IAA and IISL.

The theme of the Congress is “Touching Humanity: Space for improving quality of life”.

The event also has a special significance since the year 2007 is the 50th year of the launch of Sputnik, signifying the beginning of Space Age, said Dr K. Radhakrishnan, Director of the Hyderabad-based National Remote Sensing Agency.
