Superhouse has expansion plan for footwear production biz

R. Balaji

Chennai, July 15 Superhouse Ltd, the Kanpur-based footwear exporter, plans to expand footwear manufacturing to 25,000 pairs a day from the present 15,000 pairs.

According to the company’s Chairman and Managing Director, Mr Mukhtarul Amin, it will set up two new shoe factories with a capacity of 5,000 pairs a day at Agra and Kanpur. These are expected to start production by the end of the current financial year. To support this production, the company is also expanding its tannery capacity to three million sq ft a month from two million sq ft now.

The expansion programme expected to cost about Rs 50 crore is driven by the company’s entry into the US market. The projections based on orders from the US brands necessitate the expansion, which would see the company’s turnover grow to about Rs 400 crore from Rs 322 crore in 2006-07.

Superhouse’s main markets are in France, UK, Germany and Holland. The company has set up design studios in France and UK and is planning one in China. Design houses predict the fashion in the coming season and help the factories cut down the supply time to the market, he said.
