Coimbatore, July 16 Aided by the growing income levels of Indians and their exposure to global trends, the premium sanitaryware market is growing by 25 per cent annually and the momentum is expected to continue for another five years, according to Mr K.E. Ranganathan, Managing Director, Parryware Roca Pvt Ltd, Chennai.

He said the company’s Perundurai factory, which has been working at about 60 per cent capacity since opening a year back, is expected to reach full capacity in the next two years after which the company would consider expanding capacity.

Speaking to newspersons in Coimbatore on Saturday, after the opening of Roca showroom, he said the total sanitaryware market in the country was estimated to be around Rs 900 crore of which the premium segment constituted about Rs 100 crore. This segment was growing annually at about 25 per cent. His company plans to acquire 20 per cent of the market share in this segment in the next one year.

He said the company has plans to open 55 showrooms across the country during the current year and the Coimbatore showroom was the 17th in the country since the launch of the Roca products three months back. He said the company has plans to ‘grow aggressively’ in the premium market. He said the Roca designs were difficult to copy and manufacture.

He said in the four Parryware factories in the country, the company manufactured four million pieces per year. The company has, so far, invested Rs 70 crore in its Perundurai unit which has an annual capacity of one million pieces.
