A foreign tourist enjoys a houseboat cruise in the backwaters of Alappuzha in Kerala. The country’s foreign exchange earnings from overseas visitors rose 17.4 per cent in the first five month of the current year, taking total earnings till May 31 to $3.07 billion, against $2.61 billion a year ago. Overseas tourist arrivals rose 12 per cent to 2.03 million.
