Meet to review urban projects

New Delhi, July 16

Senior officials of four States – Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh - will meet tomorrow to discuss the new projects proposed under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) during the current year. The review meeting, to be held in Thiruvananthapuram tomorrow, would be chaired by the Urban Development Secretary, Mr M. Ramachandran, and attended by various State Secretaries and city commissioners. According to sources, the meeting wo uld also discuss the progress of reforms undertaken by these States as part of the mission, and implementation status of various approved projects. So far, 14 projects worth Rs 1,200 crore have been approved in the case of Karnataka, 6 projects (worth Rs 700 crore) for Kerala, 19 projects (worth Rs 1,900 crore) for Tamil Nadu and 31 projects (worth Rs 2,000 crore) for Andhra Pradesh. —
