New Projects States - Other States Posco firm on implementing Orissa project
Our Bureau Bhubaneswar, July 17 Posco India on Tuesday said that it was determined to implement its 12 million tonnes per annum capacity steel project in Orissa. “The company is confident, determined and committed to make this project happen,” a statement issued by the company said. “Going by the recent developments, the company is happy to note that there is a greater understanding and wider consensus in favour of the project building up at all levels, notably among people in the project site. The company is further encouraged by the support extended by the Orissa Government as well as the Centre for expediting the project,” the statement said. Staff relocation
With regard to media reports about withdrawal of Korean staff from the company’s office here, the company said the staff deployment was in relation to specific assignments and the employee moves with the changes in assignment. “When the construction phase begins, there would be reallocation of staff from overseas in large number.” The company requested the media not to ‘wrongly speculate’ on relocation of staff deputed from Korea. “The project is progressing well and all our staff located in India or in Korea are gearing up to organise rapid spadework for the success of the project,” the company said. According to sources, earlier there were 38 employees from Korea working in the company’s office here. However, 20 of these employees have already left for Korea to work in the company’s operations in that country. Of the remaining 18 persons, eight more were likely to return to their country by mid-August. A company official, however, said that the Korean staff would return when ground levelling work starts after land is acquired for the steel project in Jagatsinghpur district. The company had recently said that it was hoping to start ground levelling work by December.
