New Projects States - Kerala Saudi group to set up $25-m manufacturing plant in India
Our Bureau Kochi, July 17 The Saudi Arabia-based Al Batterjee Group, a business conglomerate with an annual turnover of $200 million, is planning to set up a manufacturing plant for its Nunu range of baby care products in India. Addressing a press conference here, Mr Sohail Fayyad, Managing Director Al Batterjee said the manufacturing facility would be established soon. However, he declined to specify the location for the proposed facility. “We are exploring several possibilities. The estimated investment for the manufacturing venture is $25 million,” he said. Mr Fayyad, who was in Kochi in connection with the all-India launch of Nunu brand of baby care products, said the group was focusing on India as a major outlet for Nunu brand and was confident that the product would be accepted by customers. The group is hoping for a billing of Rs 20 crore from baby care products during the first year of operations at the all-India level, he added. Al Batterjee Group having diverse business interests has entered into a strategic tie-up with Kerala-based Valy Group for marketing Nunu brand of baby care products. Nunu, meaning newborn in Arabic, is now sold over 37 countries, he said. Nunu baby care is having the entire spectrum of products. They are launched first in Kerala as several thousands of Keralities are aware of the brand, Mr Jose Valy of Valy Group, which brings Nunu to India, said.
