Education States - Andhra Pradesh IIT-B offers new range of programmes
Our Bureau Hyderabad, July 17 As part of its golden jubilee initiative, the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay (IIT-B) has launched new PG and Ph.D. programmes in six disciplines besides flexible curricula for undergraduate students. The newly-launched programmes include a dual degree M.Sc.-Ph.D. in physics, industrial design (first of its kind in India, focused on animation and citizen-friendly interactive technology), M.Des. in animation, interaction design, dual degree M.Sc.-Ph.D. in energy science and engineering, M.Sc. in applied geophysics, M.Tech in petroleum geoscience, natural resources engineering, technology and development, and Ph.D. in natural resources engineering. Further, the undergraduates, who aspire for diverse learning, in addition to the base B.Tech., could apply for either a B.Tech with Honors, or B.Tech with one or two minors (Maths, Economics, Management etc.), or B.Tech. Honors with one minor, or Dual B.Tech.-M.Tech. Degree (for e.g. B.Tech. Engg. Physics & M.Tech. Nanoscience). “We are greatly encouraged by the boom in our PG/Ph.D. programmes and believe that the increased industry interaction and international exposure will deliver the best brains to drive India’s growth domestically, and on the global stage,” Prof. Anil Kumar Singh, Dean (Academic Planning), IIT-Bombay, said in a release.
