Paper, Board & Newsprint TNPL net profit jumps 26%
Our Bureau Chennai, July 18 Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Ltd has reported a 26 per cent jump in net profit at Rs 23.73 crore on a net sales turnover of Rs 214.01 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2007. During the corresponding period in the previous year the company reported a net profit of Rs 18.81 crore on a net sales turnover of Rs 179.32 crore, the company said in a statement. Total expenditure was Rs 161.53 crore (Rs 135.71 crore), interest and finance charges Rs 5.12 crore (Rs 5.32 crore) and depreciation Rs 17.13 crore (Rs 15.80 crore). Production during the quarter was 56,780 tonnes (54,318 tonnes). TNPL said it has raised pulp wood plantation over 19,349 acres during 2006-07 to augment its raw material requirement, and plans to add 12,000 acres during the current year. The expansion of the pulp production capacity to 800 tonnes a day from the current 520 tonnes will be completed by October 2007. This will increase the paper output to 2.45 lakh tonnes a year from the present 2.30 lakh tonnes. The company will also take up the mill expansion plan during the year. The planned expansion will add 1.55 lakh tonnes to the existing capacity, the release said.
