Engg exports council ties up with Tenders Info

Will help members track global buyers, seek out bids

Kolkata, July 18 Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) today signed an MoU with Tenders Info to provide global tendering opportunities for the nearly 13,000 members of the council, a large chunk of whom are in the SME sector.

Speaking at the inaugural session of a workshop organised by the council here today on “Global Tendering and Sub-contracting Opportunities and SAP”, Mr Rakesh Shah, Chairman of EEPC, said besides providing engineering exporters with accurate search profiles of potential buyers in different parts of the world, the tie-up will enable the SME members to gain access to tenders in the same line and quote online from home or office. He said the service included information on international projects, export tenders, bids etc, and assistance in the bidding process by providing guidelines, procurement forecast and business news.

The council members will get a one-month free trial access to the Tenderinfo Web site, related to their respective trades.

It is learnt that members will also get the facility of a discounted annual fee.

Mr Shah informed that Tenders Info had a database of 20,000 live opportunities from 230 countries and different segments of the industry, and was also in a position to provide customised trade-related information to its members. Describing the measures announced by the Government recently to partially counter the impact of the rising rupee on exports as timely, he said the Government, however, was yet to announce the much awaited notification on service tax exemption on export-related post-production services.

He suggested that exporters community should recognise and develop counter strategies to “meet the challenges of accentuated financial liberalisation”.

Mr Deepak Sharma of ChaiONE Consulting (P) Ltd, channel partner of SAP in India, said SAP provides an IT-based solution to track costs and profitability leading to greater resource-use productivity which results in lowered operational costs and improved business prospects.
