Identifying areas for tie-ups: The Defence Minister, Mr A.K. Antony, flanked by the Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Sureesh Mehta, and the CII President, Mr Sunil Bharti Mittal, at the Navarms 07 ‘Indigenous Armament: Challenges and Opportunities’ an international seminar and exhibition on naval armament in the Capital on Thursday.
Our Bureau New Delhi, July 19 Indigenous development of armament is an opportunity for private sector for which quality, safety, reliability and measurability are the criteria to qualify, said Mr A.K. Antony, Defence Minister. He was speaking at the inaugural of an international seminar and exhibition on naval armament, jointly organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry and Indian Navy on Thursday. He said that companies should come together to compete with global market in defence sector. “Self-reliance is our motto and the Government is willing to pursue this aggressively,” said the Minister. Private companies should improve project management skill and designing skill to take the advantage, he said. He added that the Government is initiating high level development in the defence procurement procedures to facilitate private companies.
