You can buy train tickets at post offices soon

New Delhi, July 18 You can book your train tickets at Post Offices soon . An agreement is likely to be signed shortly, the Railway Minister, Mr Lalu Prasad, said while addressing the meeting of the Consultative Committee of Members of Parliament here on Tuesday evening.

He said that it will also be possible to buy tickets through ATMs of public sector banks at 6,000 railway stations, according to a statement .

The Minister said Indian Railways has increased the length of all trains to 24 coaches. The length of platforms is also being increased to accommodate 24 coaches. It has taken a number of initiatives to increase the freight loading which include construction of logistic park through Public Private Partnership (PPP), liberalisation of container policy, wagon investment scheme, liberalisation of the policy of siding construction and concession up to 40 per cent in empty flow direction.
