Eastern Railway earnings up at Rs 884 cr

Kolkata, July 19 The earnings of Eastern Railway have gone up to Rs 884.37 crore during April to June 2007 compared with Rs 695.6 crore earned during the corresponding period of the previous year, says a press release.

During this period, the railway’s passenger earnings were Rs 289.93 crore, goods earnings Rs 546.62 crore, other coaching earnings Rs 37.7 crore, and sundry/other earnings Rs 10.12 crore. Eastern Railway also succeeded in carrying freight traffic of 10.97 million tonnes during the period. Coal alone accounted for 7.27 mt and other goods 3.7 mt, adds the release.
