Software Industry & Economy - SSI Cisco unveils plan to tap SMBs
Our Bureau New Delhi, July 20 Global networking major Cisco has announced a strategic roadmap to tap the rapidly growing market for IT and networking of Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) in India. The strategy entails focus on new customised SMB products and solutions, and financing schemes like the recently-launched Easy Lease program. As per an Access Markets International (AMI) Partners 2006 study there are an estimated 7.6 million SMBs in the country. These SMBs are set to increase their IT spend by 24 per cent in 2007 to $8 billion to beef-up their servers and networking technology. To increase awareness of its products and programs among these businesses, Cisco said it would continue to invest heavily in partner enablement and its ‘Network on Wheels’ campaign. According to Mr Pramodh Menon, Senior Vice-President, Commercial, Cisco India & SAARC, “small and mid-sized businesses may differ across the various industries and regions, but they all require operational efficiency, customer responsiveness, cost containment and network security.” Cisco said it has designed SMB Class Solutions considering the requirements of the SMBs and has been educating the SMB customer with its benefits.
