Our Bureau Tiruchi, July 20 State Bank of India (SBI) will establish another 40 automated teller machines (ATMs) by September in the Chennai Circle comprising Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Puducherry, the bank’s Deputy General Manager, Tiruchi module, Mr P.J. Thomas, said here. Inaugurating the bank’s ATM established at the railway station here, Mr Thomas said that the SBI had established 425 ATMs in the Chennai Circle so far. The bank has 7,000 ATMs across the country. Stating that there was a huge response to the facility from customers, Mr Thomas said that 10,000 transactions were taking place through the bank’s 18 ATMs in Tiruchi alone. 32 more
Making the first operation through the new ATM, the Divisional Railway Manager, Tiruchi, Mr R.C. Jat, said that during the current year as many as 32 ATMs of different banks would be established in various railway stations in Tiruchi division. Of this, eight ATMs were that of the SBI. The ATMs were in the process of being established in major stations such as Puducherry, Vriddhachalam and Thanjavur.
