Exporters say relief package ‘not enough’

New Delhi, July 22 A majority of the exporters surveyed by Assocham have found the recently announced Rs 1,400-crore relief package inadequate and sought a long-term export strategy to reduce transaction cost and restoration of suitable export infrastructure.

Rupee problem

Of the 400 large, medium and small exporters surveyed, 80 per cent said they continue to suffer as a result of the appreciating rupee.

Around 68 per cent said the delay in implementing service-tax exemption was adding to their woes while about 90 per cent termed the Government’s efforts to identify and promote potential exports market as near ‘negligible’.
