Airlines Marketing - New Products & Services SilkAir plans Singapore to Coimbatore direct service
Our Bureau Bangalore, July 23 SilkAir, the regional service of Singapore Airlines, plans to launch direct service to Coimbatore from October with thrice-weekly flights. The airline hopes to get the approval from the Indian Government soon. Coimbatore will be its third destination in South India, after Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. SilkAir is also looking to launch flights to Kathmandu later this year. Pending Government approval, the airline hopes to introduce a thrice-weekly service. Kathmandu flights
As, there are now no direct flights between both cities, the extended coverage of the joint SilkAir-Singapore Airlines network is expected to boost traffic to Kathmandu through Singapore’s Changi Airport. “We’re very excited about the new routes,” said SilkAir’s Chief Executive, Mr Chin Yau Seng. SilkAir also plans to boost capacity on the existing routes when its northern winter schedule comes into effect on October 28. Thiruvananthapuram is among the destinations that will see increased frequency of SilkAir.
