Workshop on coir exports today

Kochi, July 23

The Coir Board is organising a one-day workshop on coir exports in Alappuzha on Tuesday.

The workshop covers subjects like foreign policy, customs and central excise levies, exchange risk management, patents etc.

Mr Gopal Krishna Pillai, Commerce Secretary, will inaugurate the workshop and hand over the registration certificate of Geographical Indication (GI) on Alleppey Coir to the Coir Board Chairman and unveil the logo of Alleppey Coir thereafter. The function will be chaired by Mr A.C.Jose, Chairman of the Board.

The workshop will discuss the Foreign Trade Policy, recent changes in Customs and Central Excise levies , the appreciation of the rupee and its impact on exporters and patents.

A statistical supplement on coir exports for the last five years prepared by the Coir Board will be released on the occasion.
