Sterlite Optical Technologies Ltd successfully implemented the platform for MTNL which would enable the PSU to provide new services such as 3G, IPTV and content networks. This network would also enable MTNL to provide VPN and Transparent LAN services to corporate customers in Delhi. MTNL issued a new contact to Sterlite for deployment of a broadband and metro ethernet network in Delhi & Mumbai. The network, once completed, would be capable of handling about half a mill ion broadband connections in these cities.
