Mangalore, July 24

Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) is planning to set up at least 15 retail outlets during the current financial year.

Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, Mr R. Rajamani, Managing Director of MRPL, said that these outlets will be located in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

These outlets are in addition to the three outlets proposed in Karnataka, which are in different stages of completion. Work on the retail outlets at Hubli and Maddur in Karnataka will be completed by August-end or September. The retail outlet at Kadri in Mangalore is waiting for clearance from the Deputy Commissioner of the district.

“The company is planning to set up at least 15 retail outlets by March 2008,” he said.

Work on the three satellite depots at Kasaragod in Kerala, Hosur in Tamil Nadu and Hindupur in Andhra Pradesh will be completed by August or September, he said.

ATF MARKETING

Asked about the direct ATF (aviation turbine fuel) marketing plans of the company, he said that already a round of discussion has been held with the officials of various airline companies. MRPL would use the infrastructure facilities of HPCL (Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd) at Bangalore, Goa and Kozhikode for the supply of ATF, he said.

Orders have been placed for Bowsers, and they are likely to be delivered during August, September and October (one Bowser every month).

A Bowser is a vehicle used to replenish the fuel supplies of aircraft at an airport.

To a query on the reasons for the jump in the net profit of the company during the first quarter of the current fiscal, he attributed them to the appreciation of rupee against dollar and to the sale of products.
