Kochi, July 25 Fedders Lloyd Corporation Ltd on Wednesday announced its entry into a new consumer durable category with the launch of new range of Lloyd washing machines in Kerala to coincide with the Onam festival season.

The company’s decision to enter into washing machines segment is an inevitable step to gain additional brand share in the competitive consumer durables market and is expecting to capture 4 per cent of the market share in the very first year of operation, Mr Sanjeev Wadhwa, Vice-President (Sales and Marketing), said at a press meet.

Besides washing machines, the company also announced the launch of two new models of microwave ovens and DVD players in the Kerala market for the festive season.

Fedders Lloyd, pioneers in the air conditioning industry, had sold around 38,000 units of A/c since Lloyd brand launch in mid March this year and the sales in value had touched Rs65 crore for the period of mid March-June.

The washing machines, with ‘crystal wash technology’, will be available in the capacity of 5.5 kg to 7 kg and will be priced between Rs6,000 to Rs14,000.

The product will be available in more than 100 outlets across Kerala, he said. To add the festivities of Onam, the company will offer assured gifts to its customers with every purchase of Lloyd air conditioners, microwave ovens, DVD players, he added.

The company is targeting a 9 per cent market share for air conditioners and 9 per cent in ovens during the festival period in Kerala, he said.
