Shop for diamonds at petrol bunks!

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, July 25

Spectrum Jewellery, a joint venture between multi-brand Gitanjali Group and Sanghvi Exports, has partnered with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd., to set up exclusive Sangini diamond jewellery store in fuel bunks.

The idea is to provide a unique shopping experience in a petrol filling station where a visitor can enjoy the bunk hospitality while also having access to C-store concept, an initiative of Sangini and HPCL.

The Director of Margadarsi Service Centre, Mr Potluri Phani Ratna Kumar, said that petrol filling stations have become convenience stores offering a visitor the option of shopping at leisure while their car gets the necessary attention, including a clean up.

The concept may take time to take off but already some of these initiatives have begun to pay off in the markets where this has already been launched, he explained.

The Director of Transcend, Mr Karthik Jhaveri, said that the Heritage Trust of Transcend Group has partnered with the store promoters. They promise total repayment of diamonds shopped at the Sangini store over 18 years. In fact, they also issue a promissory note to either the buyer or his kin to enable them to encash it at the designated date.

The Sangini store has jewellery ranging from Rs 2,500 to Rs 2 lakh and initially for every purchase of about Rs 7,000, buyers are entitled for some freebies.

“The concept of jewellery store in a bunk has evolved lately. Most often people do not have time to shop for special events and such stores offer them the advantage of shopping,” Mr Ratna Kumar said.
