Engineering Stone India Q1 net up at Rs 3.8 cr; sales rise 23%
Our Bureau Kolkata, July 26 Stone India Ltd, for the quarter ended March 31, 2007, has reported a higher net profit of Rs 3.78 crore (Rs 3.14 crore). Net sales for the quarter under review has recorded an increase of 23 per cent to Rs 21.09 crore (Rs 17.21 crore). Gross turnover is placed at Rs 23.78 crore (Rs 19.73 crore). According to a statement releasing the financial results by the company here, the new financial year has begun well with the receipt of the single largest order in the Stone India’s history, valued at Rs 14 crore, from the Ministry of Deference for refurbishment and upgradation of defence wagons. This also marks the entry of the company into the big ticket project and services arena, a new growth area, for which the company has invested over Rs.1.2 crore. Stone India has recently concluded an exclusive arrangement with ZRJC Ltd, Guangzhou, China, for manufacture and supply of air-conditioning systems along with microprocessor-based control system for railway passenger and metro coaches. The company, with the introduction of this product and inverter system, expects to emerge as a turnkey supplier of complete power generation systems to the Railways.
