Retailing States - Karnataka GKB Opticals plans to expand retail outlets
Our Bureau Bangalore, July 26 GKB Opticals claims a sizeable share of business from the information technology sector for its prescription eyeware. Software professionals exposed to the rigours of visual concentration use spectacles largely for vision corrections, said a senior company executive. GKB, under its ‘Mission Vision, provides free eye screening programme to leading IT companies, said Mr H.V.N. Raj, General Manager (Sales), as an adjunct to its regular marketing strategy to augment its sales. Mr Raj told mediapersons here on Wednesday that at least 20 per cent of the screened candidates were found to be needing lenses to correct vision deficiencies. The Kolkata-based ophthalmic lenses manufacturing and dispensing company plans to expand its retail outlets to 150 in three years to cash in on the increasing awareness about quality lenses, Mr Raj said adding that GKB plans to add 15 more company owned stores before the end of the year. GKB, which expects a 30 per cent growth in its business, expects its turnover to touch Rs 60 crore during 2007-08. It plans to build up it commercial campaign to 08build its brand apart from highlighting the bouquet of leading international brands like Seiko, Rodenstock (Germany), Gucci and Armani. With its fully equipped hi-tech eye testing equipment, GKB has installed an advanced screening machine called, the Digital System Chart form Japan to provide a precision evaluation of the status of vision.
