New Projects Orissa project progressing faster: Mittal
Our Bureau Bhubaneswar, July 26 The Chief Executive of ArcelorMittal, Mr Lakshmi Nivas Mittal, on Thursday said his company’s proposed 12-million tonne per annum capacity steel plant project in Orissa was progressing fast. After holding a two-hour-long meeting with the Orissa Chief Minister, Mr Naveen Patnaik, here, Mr Mittal observed that his Orissa project was progressing faster than the Jharkhand project. Mr Mittal told presspersons the State Government assured all support for the project that would be implemented in two phases of six million tonnes each with a total investment of Rs 40,000 crore. “I am very happy over the progress achieved on the project since signing of the memorandum of understanding with the Orissa Government in December last year and confident that it would come up as planned,” he said. Mr Mittal informed that the meeting which was attended by top officials of the State Government that discussed all aspects of the proposed plant, including availability of land, iron ore and water. The detailed project report would be ready by the middle of next year, Mr Mittal said.
