Rs 10,000-cr funding likely for rail box operations

New Delhi, July 27 The rail container operations sector is likely to get an investment flow of about Rs 10,000 crore for wagons, logistics parks and Inland Container Depots (ICDs) over the next two years.

This was stated by here today Mr K.C. Jena, Member Staff, Railway Board, while speaking at a conference on ‘Privatisation of container transportation by rail’.

Mr Jena, who is also the National Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, said the rail container policy required the development of new ICDs and multi-modal logistics parks.

The exercise is likely to make logistics in the country more effective to enable growth of physical trade and economy and optimise the cost of supply chains and transactions, informed an official release.
