Foreign Relations Industry & Economy - Power ‘Nuke deal completion to boost further Indo-US ties’
Mr Scott Carson
Ashwini Phadnis Seattle, July 27 The successful completion of the nuclear deal with India is likely to give a further boost to the Indo-US relations, the President and Chief Executive Officer, Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Mr Scott Carson, has said. “The normalisation of relations between India and the US will help in additional things that we have been talking about like the setting up of the maintenance, repair and overhaul facility and the flight training centre. If we normalise relations, it will open up opportunities in both commercial and other fields that may have otherwise been missed,” Mr Carson said. Interest
The CEO was speaking to the Indian media at a pre-delivery function organised to mark the delivery of the first of the eight Boeing 777-200 long range (LR) aircraft to Air India. Mr Carson indicated that the aircraft manufacturer would be interested in infrastructure development that includes among other things safety of air traffic management and development of airports. Meanwhile, India it would seem is the flavour of the month at the Boeing plant here. Not only is the aircraft manufacturer delivering six aircraft to three different airlines from India in the next five days, but its production lines are spilling over with aircraft for airlines from India in various stages of production. “Not for the last five years have we made so many deliveries to India in such a short time,” said the Senior Vice-President, Sales, Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Dr Dinesh Keskar.
