Outlook Web Extras - Software UBICS Inc to roll out two products Our Bureau
Pune, July 27 UBICS Inc, the Pittsburgh-based IT services division of the UB Group, which set up its research and development centre in Pune is now looking at innovation strategy versus headcount. Addressing presspersons, Mr Sunil Patil, who has been recently appointed as the President of UBICS, said it would be rolling out two products from the Pune centre by the end of the current calendar year. The first product would be the packaged business application in HR and recruiting domain. The second would be Internet-based video-communication space, he said.
He noted that an investment of $10 million has been utilised for the development of these products. The concept and idea had been developed in the US a couple of years ago and the development of the product would be out of the Pune centre. Quoting figures, he said the branded application software market in India is currently $1 billion which would increase to $7 billion by 2010. And global market is pegged at $350 billion by 2010. Mr Sunil said the third space would be airline. “Currently, it has a suite of products for the airline industry, but there are certain gaps which we would be looking at filling in,” he pointed out. He added that as part of the expansion programme, it would also be addressing West Asian market for video streaming and APAC countries for the HR product.
