Mahindra’s CSR activities focus on education, health in Nashik

Our Bureau

Mumbai, July 29 Mahindra & Mahindra has announced the launch of its AIDS awareness programme, concern for environment programme and SAE India’s innovative automotive initiative – AWIM (A world in motion), in Nashik.

These projects are in sync with the Mahindra Group’s CSR (corporate social responsibility) philosophy of focusing on education, health and the environment.

The AIDS initiative has been launched in association with a Mumbai-based NGO, ‘Aas – Center for hope’. AWIM is an initiative of SAE International; SAE India launches it in Nashik under the aegis of Mahindra & Mahindra’s social responsibility programme for the student community.

Mahindra’s Nashik plant has also initiated a tree plantation programme.

The auto major in association with ‘Aas – Center for Hope’ will conduct roadshows, hold seminars and spread awareness about AIDS and its prevention. This programme will commence with specific camps being held for mass awareness.

The occasion saw the formation of a core CSR team comprising Mahindra employees and social workers from the centre to take the initiative forward in a focused manner.

Eco-friendly

Mahindra & Mahindra has taken several steps in its efforts to be an environment-friendly organisation. The Nashik plant has pledged to plant one lakh saplings in and around the city of Nashik in the current year, beginning with 5,000 saplings, which have already been planted.

Earlier activities include planting saplings in the ITI campus in schools in Nashik. The Nashik plant has won laurels for its environmental-friendly activities.

Education has been a major thrust area in CSR for Mahindra & Mahindra, which was reflected in the launch of SAE International’s innovative automotive initiative – AWIM - in Nashik.

AWIM is an innovative programme, aimed at developing the engineering skills of young students in the age group of 7-12 years.
