Gontermann-Peipers net rises

Kolkata, July 29

Gontermann-Peipers (India) Ltd (GPI), an engineering company, has registered nearly 278 per cent growth in net profit at Rs 3.77 crore during the first quarter of 2007-08 from Rs 1 crore in the corresponding period last year. The high growth in net profit was the result of better capacity utilisation, product mix, cost effectiveness and strategic marketing policy, a company release said. The net turnover during the first quarter of the current fiscal stood at Rs 45.45 crore, up nearly 69 per cent from Rs 26.84 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. GPI has registered 55 per cent growth in exports and has entered new markets including Taiwan and South Korea besides strengthening position in existing markets in the US, Canada, Bulgaria, China, Philippines and Egypt, the release said. - Our Bureau
