Events Alembic completes 100 years
Virendra Pandit Vadodara, July 30 The city-based pharma company major Alembic Ltd completed 100 yearstoday. Established in 1907 as Alembic Chemical Works, it is one of the leading pharmaceutical companies in India, with a turnover of Rs 700 crore, Mr Chirayu Amin, Chairman and Managing Director, said. Alembic was amongst first companies to make Penicillin in India with totally indigenous technology. The corporate social responsibility initiatives of Alembic, that began in 1959, include a hospital, schools and a rural development society. The Alembic Trust runs five schools in Vadodara with over 5,000 children. The Bhailal Amin General Hospital established in 1964, is one of the most successful hospitals in Gujarat. “We will have tree plantation drives, blood donation camps, medical camps, drawing competition for school children etc. “A photo exhibition on the history of Alembic is also planned,” Mr Amin said. .
