Business leadership awards announced

New Delhi , July 30 NDTV Profit Business Leadership Awards were bagged by the biggies of the Indian Industries, including Reliance, HDFC, TCS and DLF.

Mr Sunil Bharti Mittal (Business Leader of the year), Mr Kumar Mangalam Birla (Global Indian of the Year) and Mr Anand Mahindra (Reid and Taylor viewers’ choice) were felicitated at the second edition of the awards.

While Bajaj Auto and Tata Motors bagged the awards in the two-wheeler and four-wheeler categories respectively, Kingfisher Airlines (Aviation), ICICI Lombard and Life Insurance Corporation of India (Insurance), Dr Reddy’s Laboratories (Pharmaceuticals) and Pantaloon Retail (Retail) were the other companies to be felicitated.

Kerala Tourism Development Corporation Ltd was the obvious choice for Travel and Tourism, Reliance Industries Ltd and Bharti Airtel won in the Oil and Gas and Telecom categories respectively. Larsen & Toubro was chosen in the Building and Construction – Infrastructure category and Delhi as the Business State of the year. LG Electronics India Pvt. Ltd, ITC, and Marico Industries won in the consumer goods categories, HP and TCS in the IT category.

The awardees felicitated by the Finance Minister, Mr P Chidambaram, were chosen by a jury which included Dr Amit Mitra, on the board of directors of Steel Authority of India Ltd and GAIL (India) Ltd; Ms Anu Aga, Director on the Thermax’s Board of Directors; Mr N.R. Narayana Murthy, Chairman Emeritus, Infosys; Mr Suman Dubey, Chief representative in India for Dow Jones and Co; Mr Kiran Karnik, President, Nasscom; Dr Vijay Kelkar, Chairman of IDFC Private Equity Company Ltd, and Dr Prannoy Roy, NDTV Chairman.
