Consumer Electronics Godrej Consumer Products net up 17%
Our Bureau Mumbai, July 31 Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) has posted a 17.38 per increase in net profit for the quarter ended June 30. Net profit rose from Rs 30.49 crore to Rs 35.79 crore during the quarter. Net sales rose by 23. 13 per cent to Rs 235.8 crore (Rs 191.5 crore). The total income (net of taxes) has increased from by 23.33 per cent at Rs 237.29 crore for the June quarter (Rs 192.40 crore). Meanwhile the group has reported a consolidated net profit at Rs 38.64 crore for the first quarter compared to Rs 34.13 crore for the corresponding quarter last year. Consolidated total income (net of excise) for the quarter stood at Rs 287.55 crore (Rs 238.44 crore). The company has declared an interim dividend at Re 0.75 per share, that is, 75 per cent on the shares of the face value of Re 1 each for the financial year 2007-08. The board of directors at its meeting on July 31 has approved the proposal to augment long term resources of the company through suitable means for an amount up to Rs 400 crore, subject to the consent of shareholders. The shares of the company increased 0.21 per cent to close at Rs 140.15 on the BSE.
