Hotel Leela’s Q1 net up 36%

Mumbai, Aug 1 Better occupancy rates in all the hotel properties have boosted profits of Hotel Leelaventure in the first quarter as per a statement from the company. Registering a growth of 36 per cent, net profit grew from Rs 22.2 crore (without including net of extraordinary gains of Rs 40.5 crore) to Rs 30.1 crore in the quarter ended June 30, 2007.

Extraordinary income included profit on the sale of The Leela Business Park in Mumbai, which bolstered its profits to Rs 62.7 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

The share price of Leela closed at Rs 47.65 on Wednesday, down by 2.56 per cent against the previous day’s close.
