Engineering Cummins clocks 26% rise in net
Our Bureau Pune, Aug 1 For the first quarter of the current fiscal, Cummins India Ltd has recorded a net profit of Rs 64.02 crore against Rs 50.78 crore, registering an increase of 26 per cent. Net sales stood at Rs 542.3 crore for the first quarter compared with Rs 391.4 crore in the year-ago period, registering a 38.6 per cent growth. Profit before tax stood at Rs 89.4 crore (Rs 70 crore), a growth of 27.8 per cent. The board of directors has recommended a 200 per cent dividend for the year ended March 2007. Talking to presspersons after the annual general meeting, Mr Anant Talaulicar, Chairman and Managing Director, said the company is expanding its business in the alternator and power generator devices. He said it is setting up the Ranjangaon plant for the alternator segment and that it would begin commercial production by January 2008. This would be in addition to the Ahmednagar plant, which is also catering to the alternator division. Mr Anant said it is also setting up the power generator devices unit at Pirangut in Pune, which would triple the capacity.
