Maditssia plans vocational training centre

Seeks lands, funds from State Govt


The association urged that plots be handed over to women entrepreneurs immediately.

Madurai, Aug. 1 Madurai District Tiny And Small Scale Industries Association (Maditssia) is planning to set up a vocational training centre here, to train employees required by industries.

In a move aimed at strengthening small scale industries, support from Government in the form of land, building and funds are needed, the association said in a memorandum submitted to Mr R. Santhanam, Managing Director, Tamilnadu Small Industries Development Corporation, during his visit to the city recently.

The memorandum pointed out that plot earmarked for women entrepreneurs in the Kappalur Industrial Estate, near Madurai, are yet to be allotted despite advance payments by them and confirmation of allotment a year back.

The association urged that the plots be handed over to women entrepreneurs immediately, to enable them start their industries without further delay.

It further pointed out that Government’s order transferring the responsibility of maintenance of industrial estates to local bodies, is yet be effected with reference to K.Pudur industrial estate and this same must be done early.

Other demands are the issue of sale deeds for sheds with more than 5,000 sq ft in SIDCO Industrial Estate and identification of land by SIDCO for developing a new industrial estate for the benefit of new entrepreneurs as all the estates in and around Madurai are now fully occupied.
