Microsoft ERP service for small biz

Moumita Bakshi Chatterjee

New Delhi, Aug. 3

Microsoft India has announced the availability of its Dynamics Suite of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications as a subscription-service for the Small and Medium Businesses.

“SMBs can use these solutions without the need to install it within the company’s own premises. This model will increase the affordability of ERP solutions by eliminating upfront capital expenditure and also the need for in-house IT resources and additional infrastructure,” Mr Rajeev Mittal, Group Director - Small and Medium Enterprises, Microsoft India said.

The ERP application would be hosted by a Microsoft Channel Partner and can be accessed by companies through multiple access modes such as Virtual Private Networks (VPN) and Internet.

Booming market

The partner would also provide turnkey solutions ranging from initial set-up and staff training, to management of application for the company and complaint resolution. Microsoft’s first partner for the service is Bangalore-based Affordable Business Solutions. Currently, ABS is offering three, five and 10-user ERP packs for basic material and financial accounting functionalities for small businesses priced at Rs 25,000, Rs 35,000 and Rs 60,000 per month, compared to Rs 10-15 lakh upfront payment in traditional models.

The company has already signed up Mysore-based Raman Fibre Sciences (which focuses on design, development and manufacturing of special fibre-based products) as a customer for hosted ERP services.
