Prakash Ind Q1 net up 80%

New Delhi, Aug. 4 Prakash Industries Ltd’s net profit for the first quarter ended June 30, 2007 increased 80 per cent to Rs 50.12 crore against Rs 27.87 crore in the corresponding previous quarter last year.

A statement from the company said that net sales for the quarter was up 49.32 per cent to Rs 311.61 crore (Rs 208.68 crore).

“The first quarter has been satisfying for the company as all the verticals performed well. Steel was the main growth driver on the back of strong demand and has contributed around 91 per cent to the revenues. Power is another thrust area which has registered a growth of 50 per cent in revenues,” Mr V.P. Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director, said.
