APSRTC to boost rural service

Visakhapatnam, Aug. 5

Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) will run 2,000 more buses on rural routes under the Palle velugu scheme, according to Mr S Dharma Reddy, the Executive Director (Vizianagaram and Vijayawada regions). At a press meet here on Sunday, he said 200 of the new buses would be plied in the Vizianagaram region. He said the corporation was concentrating on connecting the rural areas to towns. Several Garuda (air-conditioned Volvo buses) services had been introduced, connecting Vizag to Vijayawada, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Kolkata. "There is great response to the Garuda services from the public. We will increase the services," he said. - Our Bureau
