SKM Tech may set up second unit in Bangalore

Hyderabad, Aug 7 SKM Technologies Pvt Ltd, a maker of aerospace components, is exploring options of setting up its second unit in Bangalore, according to its Managing Director Mr B. Krishna Rao.

The Hyderabad-based company has bagged the AS 9100B certificate —the first unit from Andhra Pradesh to receive the internationalquality certification for the aerospace industry.

The certificate was awarded by KEMA, Netherlands during a function organised by the Aerospace Industries Association(AIA) in Hyderabad recently.

The AIA, which represents more than 75 aerospace component makers in Andhra Pradesh, has been formed recently to develop aerospace cluster in the State.

Speaking at the function, Mr P.Ravindra Reddy, President, AIA said: “There is tremendous scope for growth in the aerospace industry in AP if right support is received from the state government and banks. With the aerospace industry growing globally, AIA member companies can benefit from the worldwide demand for aerospace components. The AIA is in dialogue with the Andhra Pradesh Government to set up an aerospace zone in the outskirts of Hyderabad”

Dr.P.Subba Rao, VP of AIA, said: “The aerospace industry in the State has several manufactures and has every potential to make Andhra Pradesh a leading world destination for aerospace components. The present expertise available with AIA members in AP can support manufacturing of an entire LCA.”SKM is makingaerospace components for exports and to meet the needs of Indian industries.
