New Delhi, Aug. 7 DuPont has entered the animal health solutions with biosecurity products for the poultry industry. It is also introducing disinfectants and decontamination products for hospitals in India. According to Mr Balvinder Singh Kalsi, President and CEO, E.I. DuPont India, the company “is looking to introduce both products and solutions in the food safety and quality solutions segment in India.” It is partnering with a contract research manufacturer in Himachal Pradesh for the animal health solutions’ biosecurity products to prevent such challenges such as that of bird-flu. The dedicated GMP (good manufacturing processes) facility is to be operational before this month-end. The veterinary virucidal disinfectants, Virkon S products, are expected to be marketed in association with Pfizer, said the company. In the human health segment, it is introducing its brand RelyOn which will offer products for decontamination of medical devices and hospital environments. The India facility comes up two months ahead of its Chinese one, which will be DuPont’s only other facility in this segment in the Asia Pacific. “We shall start with serving domestic needs and look at exporting to neighbouring countries in Asia or even the Middle East in the future,” said Mr Dipal Parikh, Marketing Manager, DuPont Chemical Solutions Enterprise- India Sub Region, Asean, ANZ. DuPont will expand the offerings to products for cattle and companion animals going ahead, he said. Mr Parikh pointed out that the Indian poultry industry is currently only exporting eggs, but as it grows it would also start exporting meat.
