‘Mysore Silk’ expo in Kerala

Kochi, Aug 8 KSIC (Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation Ltd), a fully-owned Karnataka Government undertaking, is holding an exhibition-cum-sale of Karnataka’s heritage product ‘Mysore Silk’ from August 11 to 13 at Mascot Hotel, Thiruvananthapuram, and from August 15 to 17 at Hotel Avenue Regent at Kochi.
Unlike in the past, KSIC this time showcases elegant designer collection of Crepe de chine sarees, Kasuti embroidery sarees and georgettes and plain printed sarees, salvar sets, tops, ties etc.
The corporation has also introduced wedding collection sarees under the name of “Threads of Gold” designed by a Bangalore based professional designer.
There will be a special discount offer up to 20 per cent for products at the expo, a press release said.
The zari used in Mysore Silk is pure and has a gold content of 0.65 per cent and silver 65 per cent. The designs are a blend of tradition and modernity.
The company has obtained Geographical Indication Registration for ‘Mysore Silk’ in accordance with the provisions of the Geographical Indication of Goods (Registration and Protection Act) 1999 passed by Parliament.
