Bengal signs pact with RBI

Kolkata, Aug. 8

The Government of West Bengal on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) pertaining to urban co-operative banks in the State. A task force on urban co-operative banks has been created with the Regional Director for West Bengal and Sikkim, Reserve Bank of India, as its Chairman.

According to a communiqu‚ issued here, the taskforce will access the training and computerisation needs of the urban co-operative banks in West Bengal with a view to upgrading their human resources skills and technological infrastructure so that they can improve their operational ef?ciency and quality of management information systems. The Reserve Bank of India has already entered into similar MoUs with 11 other States. - Our Bureau
