Railways Rlys freight earnings rise 9.5%
Our Bureau New Delhi, Aug. 9 The Indian Railways has recorded a 9.49 per cent growth in freight earnings during April-July 2007 compared to corresponding period last fiscal. The total goods earnings have touched Rs 14,593.02 crore during the four-month period this fiscal, up from Rs 13,328.01 crore last fiscal. According to an official statement, the total approximate earnings of Indian Railways during April- July were Rs 21,787.89 crore against Rs 19,718.67 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 10.49 per cent. The total passenger revenues were Rs 6,331.14 crore against Rs 5,677.59 crore, an 11.51 per cent increase. The revenues from other coaching amounted to Rs 611.88 crore against Rs 521.12 crore, up 17.42 per cent. Meanwhile, the sundry earnings have gone up to Rs 251.85 crore, an increase of 31.21 per cent.
