MRPL bags safety award

Mangalore, Aug. 9

Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) has won the ‘Oil Industry Safety Award’ for 2006-07. A company release said here on Wednesday that MRPL has been adjudged second in the refineries category and this marks the entry of MRPL in the OISD panel of awards. The award has been conferred by the Oil Industry Safety Directorate under the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. The release said that the award testifies to a refinery’s safety pe rformance, and is decided after exhaustive evaluation by an awards committee. With a safety record of 1,300 days as on July 2, MRPL has set a lofty target for the rest of the oil industry to follow, the release added.
