New Products & Services Chiron launches Hepatitis A vaccine
Hyderabad, Aug. 10 Chiron Panacea Vaccines, a joint venture of Novartis Vaccines and Panacea Biotech, will be launching Hepatitis A vaccine with new generation virosomal technology developed by Switzerland-based Berna Biotech. “While the vaccine is not new, the methodology makes it first in India. Unlike other vaccines in the market, it will have no add-ons and presents antigens to the immune systems in the most natural way,” Dr Christian Herzog, Director of Medical Services, Ber na Biotech, told newspersons here on Friday. According to Dr Sahfi Kolhapure, General Manager - Medical Affairs, the vaccines would be imported from Berna. “Though the price has not been fixed yet, it could be around Rs 1,000 per dose. The product will be available in India within a week,” he said. For vaccinations, one needs to take two doses of the vaccine, he added. The company would launch an injectible polio vaccine developed by a Netherlands-based company in India soon, he said. – Our Bureau
