Hyderabad, Aug. 10 Google today announced that it is running an opinion poll on the Orkut site to celebrate India’s 60th Independence along with its users. This poll will invite users to express their views and opinions on significant moments and achievements that India has seen since Independence.

Posted on select communities, the poll will run on the web site through August 15.

Orkut has become a forum where millions of Internet users connect, express themselves and communicate freely. The poll aims at strengthening these values by creating a sprit of comradeship and a common discussion ground among people of different age, cultures and communities.

The Managing Director, Google India, Mr Shailesh Rao, in a statement said: “we are proud to be a part of India’s 60th Independence celebrations and know that the energy, enthusiasm and conviction so apparent throughout Orkut communities will be on display as we ask users for their opinions through this poll.
