Retailing Kaya Skin Clinic offers jobs for science graduates
Mr Rakesh Pandey, CEO, Kaya Skin Clinic
Our Bureau Mumbai, Aug. 10 Marico’s Kaya Skin Clinic is giving science graduates a chance to get trained and paid at its clinics. Its two training centres in Mumbai and Delhi have already hired and trained nearly 700 candidates, and its imminent foray into weight loss clinics will add another 5,000 employees under its fold. Mr Rakesh Pandey, CEO, Kaya Skin Clinic, told Business Line, “There is a tough selection process but we do encourage people with a science background to join and get trained at our clinics.” Potential employees begin with a stipend, which can lead to them earning between Rs 8,000 and Rs 12,000 per month. ‘Kaya Diva’
With almost 90 per cent women employees working at its 44 clinics across the country, the company has decided to term them as ‘Kaya Diva’ within the organisation. “There are people coming from the smaller towns and cities to join our centres. We deduct the cost of their staying cost from their stipends though,” states Mr Pandey. The recruits are trained with the help of doctors at its clinics and also made to understand customer relations. Tough selection
At the same time, there are also a large number of rejected candidates who do not make it on their rolls. “We usually reject candidates during the training process itself as and when we do not find them suitable for the job. There is a tough interview process where the ability to understand customers is tested,” says Mr Pandey. Overseas venture
Meanwhile, Kaya Clinics are expected to tap into the UAE market and recruits from India would get employed in these markets. “Almost 30-40 per cent of the recruits would be from India in the overseas markets, while the rest would be local recruits as they have to be Arabic speaking,” said Mr Pandey. Kaya skin Clinic has already assigned an investment between Rs 15 crore and Rs 20 crore in the next three years in Saudi Arabia to start some more clinics, apart from the existing ones in Oman, Dubai and Abu Dhabi in West Asia. Retailing strategy
Besides, there would be changes made in its retailing strategy where the future clinics would stay away from high street locations. “We expect to be present in more residential and commercial complexes and stay off the high streets where parking can become a problem for our customers,” states Panday. Besides the service brand has also forayed into shop-in-shop locations are department stores such as Lifestyle and Hypercity to vend its products. Having registered profits last year, Kaya Skin Clinic is targeting a turnover between Rs 120 crore and Rs 125 crore this year.
